Cam Smithson Named Cape Region Athlete of the Week

Delmarva Christian junior and boys soccer captain Cam Smithson has been named Cape Region Athlete of the Week by the Cape Gazette.

Cam has made a significant impact for the Royals this season, recording 13 goals and 13 assists. As a central midfielder, he contributes on both ends of the attack, creating scoring opportunities for teammates while finding the back of the net himself.

“Cam Smithson is the general on the field,” said Delmarva Christian soccer coach Luke Shiderly. “Not only does he play at the center of the field, commanding the attention and respect of every team, he also plays with the heartbeat of the team: How he responds and acts is a direct representation of the rest of the team, and that is the marker of a true leader.”

Wearing the captain's armband, Cam has continued to develop his vocal leadership, helping teammates grow their understanding of the game through communication and on-field direction.

His commitment extends into the classroom, where he maintains a 3.6 GPA while taking AP English Literature and calculus. With aspirations of playing soccer at the next level, Cam continues to demonstrate the skill, intelligence, and discipline to pursue his goals.

Congratulations to Cam on this well-deserved recognition!
