Each year at Delmarva Christian School, we choose a school-wide theme that gives our community a shared focus for the year ahead. It becomes part of our conversations, our prayers, our celebrations, and the way we encourage one another.

This year, our theme is:

If you have driven by our campus recently, you have probably noticed that there is a lot of building happening. Steel is going up. Walls are taking shape. Spaces that existed only on blueprints are becoming real.

We are excited about what God is allowing us to build physically—but our theme is about something much bigger.

This theme also carries a meaningful connection to our past. During the 2012–2013 school year, when Delmarva Christian transitioned buildings with Sussex Academy and moved into the Sussex Pines address, our school-wide theme was simply “Building. Excitement.” That season marked a significant step in our journey, and we see this year’s theme as a continuation of that story—now with an even deeper emphasis on doing it together.

First Thessalonians 5:11 calls us to “encourage each other and build each other up.” That is our invitation for this year. We want to be a community that intentionally builds one another up—our students, our teachers, our staff, and our families.

And the rest of the chapter gives us an even clearer picture of what that can look like:

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Joy. Prayer. Gratitude.

Those are the things we want to build into our community.

We believe you are here for a reason. Every student and every family has been brought into the Delmarva Christian community for this unique season, and we are so grateful that you are part of it.

So as the walls go up, may something even greater be happening within our community.

May we encourage one another.

May we build one another up.

May we choose joy.

May we never stop praying.

May we give thanks in all circumstances.

And may we remember that while we are building a school, God is building a community.
