Baccalaureate Service for the Class of 2026

On Thursday evening, the night before graduation, the Class of 2026 gathered at Calvary Baptist Church for a meaningful and reflective Baccalaureate Service. Surrounded by family, friends, faculty, and staff, the evening served as a sacred pause in the midst of celebration—a moment to look back, give thanks, and look ahead with purpose.

The service featured a powerful message from Pastor Curtis Jones of Discover Church, who challenged and encouraged seniors as they prepare to step into a new season of life. His words centered on identity, calling, and the enduring presence of God as each student moves beyond the walls of Delmarva Christian.
From the beginning of the evening, it was clear this was more than a program—it was a testimony. Students participated through Scripture readings, music, creative writing, and personal testimonies, each contribution reflecting the spiritual and academic journey of their time in school.

A Foundation Built Over Four Years

One of the central reminders of the evening was the intentional foundation that has been laid throughout the students’ time at Delmarva Christian School. Over the past four years, students have been consistently taught what the Bible says, who Jesus is, and what it means to follow Him in everyday life.

“You Are No Longer Foreigners or Strangers”

A key Scripture for the night was Ephesians 2:19:
“You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household.”
This verse grounded the message in belonging. Seniors were reminded that their identity is not defined by uncertainty, achievement, or circumstance but by being fully known and fully welcomed into God’s family.

Three Reminders for the Class of 2026

Pastor Jones emphasized three core truths for students as they move forward:

1. You are known.
For four years, students have been surrounded by teachers, coaches, and mentors who have taken the time to truly know them. In a deeper sense, Jesus Himself knows His disciples personally and intimately. Romans 8:14 reminds us that those led by the Spirit of God are children of God. The message was clear: God does not merely send us out He desires relationship with us.

2. You are loved.
Beyond performance, success, or failure, students were reminded that their identity is rooted in being loved by God. That love is steady, unchanging, and present in every season of life.

3. You are not sent out alone.
As students step into new environments, they do not go in isolation. The same Spirit who calls them also leads them. God’s presence goes before them, walks beside them, and remains with them.

A Night of Worship and Commissioning

The evening included worship from the DCHS Ensemble, Scripture readings, student testimonies, creative writing, and a final prayer of blessing over the senior class. Each moment built toward a powerful sense of commissioning sending the Class of 2026 forward grounded in truth and surrounded by prayer.
As the service concluded, one truth stood out above all: these students are not stepping into the world alone. They are known, they are loved, and they are sent with purpose.
