Seniors Complete Their Senior Thesis Journey: Senior Thesis Project

As the Class of 2026 enters the final stretch of their journey at Delmarva Christian, seniors recently completed one of the most meaningful milestones of their high school experience, the Senior Thesis Project (STP).

Designed as the culminating academic, spiritual, and personal experience at DCHS, the Senior Thesis Project challenges students to spend eight rigorous weeks researching, writing, and defending a thesis-driven paper averaging nearly 25 pages. Each presentation also includes a creative product component and a live question-and-answer session before classmates, teachers, family members, and guests.

One of the most unique and meaningful features of the experience is the mentorship component. Each senior selects mentors and advisors to walk alongside them through the process, providing guidance, encouragement, and insight along the way. Students select a mentor to introduce them before their presentation, a powerful moment that highlights the relationships built throughout the journey and the support behind each senior’s work.
This year’s topics reflected both the passions and convictions of the senior class, covering everything from mental health, social media addiction, and music therapy to farmland preservation, firefighting recruitment, homelessness rehabilitation, commercial fishing, estate planning, aviation safety, and the future of college athletics. Students also tackled complex cultural, political, and spiritual issues while articulating their own Christian worldview.

The STP experience gives students the opportunity to publicly demonstrate mastery of a chosen topic while reflecting on how their faith has shaped their understanding of the world and God’s calling on their lives. For many seniors, the presentations became more than just academic exercises, they were personal declarations of purpose, conviction, and growth.

Throughout presentation week, classrooms, faculty, school board members, family, and friends filled the seats to support and celebrate the hard work of the senior class during this special tradition at Delmarva Christian.

Here’s a look at just a few of the topics presented by the Class of 2026:
  • The impact of social media and digital addiction
  • Preserving farmland in Sussex County
  • The future of volunteer firefighting
  • Music therapy and mental health
  • Homesteading and self-sufficiency
  • Aviation safety and staffing shortages
  • NIL and the transfer portal in college football
  • Supporting Delaware farmers and local agriculture
  • Early intervention for children with cognitive impairment
As the seniors prepare for graduation, the Senior Thesis Project stands as a powerful reminder of how Delmarva Christian seeks to prepare students to know and do God’s will for their lives.
