Delmarva Christian School is proud to celebrate junior
Meranda Marlowe on being named a
Carson Scholar, a prestigious recognition awarded to students who demonstrate both outstanding academic achievement and a deep commitment to character and service.
The Carson Scholarship, awarded by the Carson Scholars Fund, honors students nationwide who maintain at least a 3.75 GPA while also making a meaningful impact through community service. Recipients are selected through a competitive process that includes academic performance, service involvement, and a written essay.
For Meranda, a multi-sport student athlete and honor roll recipient, the recognition represents something far greater than academic success.
“Being a Carson Scholar reminds me that success is not just about grades and knowledge, but how I act and treat others daily,” she shared. “I see it as encouragement to use my talents to glorify God and serve others, not just for personal gain.”
A heart for service is central to Meranda’s story. One of her most meaningful experiences came through volunteering at
Night to Shine, a prom night experience centered on celebrating individuals with special needs. Serving as a buddy, Meranda witnessed firsthand the joy and confidence of participants.
“Seeing the joy, confidence, and excitement reminded me that I have so much to be thankful for and that there is great joy found in serving others,” she said.
As a Carson Scholar, Meranda hopes to lead by example—not simply through achievement, but through authenticity and integrity.
“I don’t want people to remember me as the girl who got the Carson Scholarship,” she explained. “I want them to remember me as someone who worked hard, stepped outside of her comfort zone, and led with integrity.”
Her perspective is grounded in faith, drawing from passages like Ecclesiastes 3:12–13 and Matthew 6:19–21, and a belief that identity is not defined by grades, but by character.
Looking ahead, Meranda hopes to pursue a path where she can use her gifts to serve others and glorify God, continuing to live out the values that earned her this honor.
“I pursue excellence because the choices we make today shape our future, and I want to honor God with the gifts He has given me,” she said.
Meranda also expressed gratitude for the teachers and community at Delmarva Christian, "I would like to give a big thank you for the education I am receiving at Delmarva and to the teachers that have invested in me, academically, personally, and spiritually."
As a recipient of the Carson Scholarship, Meranda represents the very best of what it means to pursue excellence with purpose at Delmarva Christian. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and excited to see how God continues to work through her life.
