ELC Celebrates Literacy Week: Stories, Spirit, and Smiles
Last week, the Early Learning Center at Delmarva Christian School celebrated Literacy Week, and what a week it was! Students of all ages participated in DEAR time—Drop Everything And Read—bringing their favorite books to enjoy with teachers and friends.

The week was filled with themed days that made reading even more fun:
  • Monday: “Reading Will Knock Your Socks Off” – mismatched and fun socks galore!
  • Tuesday: “Hats Off to Reading” – students wore the silliest, most creative hats they could find.
  • Wednesday: Pajama Day – favorite bedtime stories were read alongside stuffed animals.
  • Thursday: “Be a Super Reader” – superhero shirts and costumes filled the halls.
  • Friday: “Be a Proud Royal Reader” – students showed off their Royals pride in purple!
We were thrilled to welcome guest readers, who joined the classrooms to share their favorite stories and encourage our students to explore new books.

Literacy Week was not just about reading—it was about community, creativity, and celebrating a love for learning. From socks to superheroes, our youngest Royals embraced the fun while discovering the magic of stories.

At Delmarva Christian, we believe that fostering a love of reading at an early age builds confident, curious, and capable students for a lifetime. To learn more about one of Delaware’s leading private Christian schools, visit delmarvachristian.org
