Royals Spring Sports Recap | 2025
This spring, despite weather challenges that tested both patience and perseverance, our Royals athletes rose to the occasion with passion, determination, and heart. From thrilling victories to individual accolades, the 2025 spring season was nothing short of unforgettable.
"The Royals Spring Sport season was one with many challenges due to weather. Our athletes and coaches took it in stride and did not let the adversity affect the outcome of their successful seasons," said Athletic Director Matt McGinnis. "This spring season was rewarding and very memorable for our athletes and fans!"

High School Highlights

Baseball
The Royals baseball team wrapped up a thrilling season, highlighted by an epic 7th-inning comeback capped by a walk-off grand slam over Seaford. The Royals broke their 4-year playoff drought with a visit to Red Lion Christian Academy, falling 9-4 in the first round of the DIAA State Championship Tournament.

Softball
Softball showed grit throughout the season under first year head coach Chrissy Dunn, with marquee out-of-state wins against competitive Maryland teams.

  • Honorable Mention: Bella Marinelli
Golf
Avery Brown and Joel Perry led the Royals with outstanding seasons and multiple medalist finishes. Brown finished in 6th place in the rain-shortened DIAA State Championship, the highest of a DCHS golfer in school history.

Girls Soccer
The team earned a signature home win over Milford and celebrated several postseason recognitions.

  • Non-Conference 2nd Team: Madeline Taylor, Avery Palmer
Boys Volleyball
In a season full of high-intensity matchups, the Royals delivered a five-set Senior Night victory over Delcastle that had fans on their feet.

  • Honorable Mention: Seth Mifflin

Middle School Highlights

Softball
The middle school softball team finished a perfect 8-0 season. Behind dominant performances from 7th grader Rocsi Cannon (4-0 on the mound) and 8th graders Addison Price and Makenley Haymond (who combined for five doubles and three inside-the-park homers), the team never backed down.
Their season-defining moment came when they overcame a 13–4 deficit to Salisbury Christian. Down to their final out, Lacie Wilkins blasted a 3-run walk-off homer over the center field fence to seal the undefeated season.

Baseball
8th grade standouts Crown Rosenquist and Nate Kristunas finished their middle school careers with a combined 21–2 record. Rosenquist delivered a walk-off single in their final game to score Evan Turner and defeat Salisbury Christian.
