DCS Celebrates Creativity at Annual Art Showcase

Delmarva Christian High School recently hosted its Annual Art Showcase in the AAC Lobby, bringing together students, families, staff, and the wider DCS community for an evening celebrating creativity across every division of the arts.

Coordinated by DCHS Art Teacher Stacy Hennigan, the event highlighted the incredible talent of students in elementary, middle, and high school, including participants from the Milton campus. The showcase featured a wide range of work spanning fine arts, performing arts, digital arts, photography, and industrial arts, offering guests a walk-through gallery experience of student creativity and craftsmanship.

Art 1 and Art 2 students, along with photography and industrial arts participants, displayed their work in a professional-style gallery setting complete with easels and free-standing exhibits. Families and guests were able to view the pieces up close while also engaging with student artists and learning more about their creative process.

A unique aspect of this year’s showcase was the juried award process. Awards were determined through a blind selection by a panel of principals, DCS Board representatives, and staff members. Ribbons recognizing excellence, including Best in Show, Outstanding Student awards, Principal’s Choice, Board’s Choice, and multiple Honorable Mentions were placed beside winning pieces throughout the evening for attendees to enjoy.
Award recipients included:
  • Best in Show — Kamryn Zarebicki, 12
  • Outstanding Senior — Lily Jewell, 12
  • Outstanding Student (9th-11th) — Kiersten Buhay, 9
  • Outstanding Student (4th-8th) — Julia Reiske, 4
  • Principal’s Choice — Sophia Montag, 10; Lexi Miranda, 6

The evening also featured an Open Mic Worship segment led by students from Praise & Worship, with performances including acoustic guitar, vocals, and worship sets from student musicians. Participation in the Open Mic experience also contributes toward students earning an Art Cord for graduation, adding another layer of recognition for their artistic involvement.

“What a beautiful evening of worship and art enjoyment,” said Hennigan. “Featuring students from Delmarva Christian's 4th-12th grade art classes, Industrial Arts, Digital Design & Media, Photography, and Praise & Worship, it was an excellent turnout and a great way to help promote the idea of One Campus.”

The evening reflected the heart of the DCS arts program, giving students the opportunity to create, perform, and share their gifts in a space that celebrates both artistic excellence and community. From visual arts to live worship, the Annual Art Showcase continues to be a meaningful expression of student talent and creativity at Delmarva Christian.
