Unlocking Your College Path: Delmarva Christian High School's College Week

The transition from high school to college is a pivotal moment in any student's life. The decisions made during this period can shape one's future significantly. Organized by DCHS Counselor, Terri Smith the school hosted an informative and engaging event known as College Week. During this week, students received valuable guidance, insight, and resources to make informed decisions about their higher education. One of the highlights of College Week was the College Fair, where students could interact with admissions representatives from various colleges. College Week and Career Day alternate every year to help our students learn more about how their unique God-given gifts and interests.

The in-house College Fair was a standout feature of Delmarva Christian High School's College Week. It provided students with a unique opportunity to connect with college representatives and explore a wide range of options for their future education. This event, which took place during extended lunches, welcomed eleven esteemed institutions ready to share information and answer questions.

"College Week is a great opportunity for our students to learn more about higher education as they discover where the Lord is leading them in the next chapter of their lives," DCHS Counselor Terri Smith.  "Everyone’s life calling is different, but College Week gave the student body an opportunity to explore the college experience and what it takes to make that a reality."

Informative Sessions
College Week at DCHS goes beyond the College Fair. It featured informative sessions that empowered students to make the best decisions for their college journey. Here are some of the enlightening sessions that were part of this year's College Week:

NCAA College Athletic Recruiting Information via Zoom
DCHS Athletic Director,Matt McGinnis hosted a session that provided valuable insights into the NCAA college athletic recruiting process. This session was a must-attend for aspiring student-athletes looking to pursue their passion while obtaining a college education. 

Financial Aid Night
Understanding how to finance a college education is a critical part of the decision-making process. DCHS hosted Financial Aid Night which delved into various aspects of paying for college. Topics covered included scholarships, grants, loans, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

College Applications
Seniors had a unique opportunity to work on their college applications during class time. This special session allowed students to focus on completing their applications. It was a practical way to help students make headway on their college journey while still in school.

Empowering the Next Generation
Delmarva Christian High School's College Week is more than just a series of events. It's a platform that empowers students to take charge of their future by providing the knowledge, connections, and resources needed to make informed college decisions. The College Fair, along with informative sessions and application assistance, are all integral parts of this incredible week.
