Coach Dave Bowlin

I always wanted to work at Delmarva Christian and always kept my eyes on DCS waiting for a position to open.
“Coach Dave” David Bowlin – Physical Education & Assistant Athletic Director (Milton Campus)
HOW DID YOU END UP AT DELMARVA CHRISTIAN?
I was born and raised in Delaware and both my parents were Christian school teachers. My dad coached just about every sport at Seaford Christian and I considered myself a gym rat growing up. As I got older I realized I was passionate about coaching and felt elementary and middle school students offer the most genuine and sincere reactions. I graduated from Greenwood Mennonite and went to Baptist Bible College (Clarks Summit University) in Pennsylvania studying Sports Ministries and Physical Education.
After graduating I lived in Pennsylvania and worked with the athletic department at my college for several years while I explored my next steps. It became evident that God wanted me to come back to Delaware and about four weeks later I was in a very serious accident which landed me in the hospital and a long road to recovery. I taught gymnastics and was Program Manager at the Little Gym in Georgetown but I missed the ministry aspect of education and created Physical Education curricula for schools.
WHY TEACH TECH AT DELMARVA CHRISTIAN?
I always wanted to work at Delmarva Christian and always kept my eyes on DCS waiting for a position to open. My wife is a DCS graduate and always spoke highly of the school. There are a lot of Christian schools that have closed, are Christian in name only, or they do not offer the level of excellence that DCS does. I really feel that we prepare kids who understand their calling and strive for excellence across the board.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LESSON TO TEACH?
I was handed a basketball early on in life and I have a ton of history with the game of basketball. So, basketball is one of my favorite games to coach and train. For the younger kids I love incorporating team work and games where they learn to enjoy physical activity. Also, SHARK ATTACK! (ask your kids about Shark Attack)
